About MAHA • Mothers Against Herbal Abuse

Mothers Against Herbal Abuse was born from one mother’s alarm and one pharmacist’s knowledge. When unregulated “herbal” drugs began appearing in gas stations and vape shops near our children, we decided to act. MAHA is where science meets motherhood—where we fight for truth, prevention, and a healthier future for every family.

“When we know better, we do better. Education is how we protect our children—and it’s how we change our communities.”

Who We Are

MAHA is a grassroots, parent-led movement created by a pharmacist who saw firsthand how addictive, unregulated “herbal” drugs like kratom, tianeptine, and phenibut were being marketed as safe alternatives. Our mission is to give parents the facts, the language, and the confidence to ask hard questions and demand better protections.

We are not lobbyists. We are parents, educators, and clinicians using compassion, data, and courage to shine a light on an issue most families don’t even know exists. Every fact we share, every story we tell, and every letter we send to lawmakers carries the same message: our children’s health is not for sale.

What We Do

Educate. Translate medical science into parent-friendly facts about kratom, tianeptine, phenibut, and delta-8 THC.

Expose. Reveal how marketing and lobbying hide the truth about “natural” highs sold near kids.

Empower. Provide ready-to-use letters, data, and tools to help families take action in their own communities.

Engage. Build a network of parents and professionals united in protecting youth from the next wave of addiction.

Our Mission

At MAHA, we believe that knowledge is protection. Our goal is to make sure every parent, teacher, and healthcare worker understands what these products are, how they’re marketed, and why oversight matters. We are here to replace fear with understanding—and apathy with action.

Together, we can make America healthy again—not high again.
